As an information analysis consultant, Ahmed gets to look behind many different scenes. This includes his latest assignment for Enexis. “This is the first place I’ve worked that made me feel right at home. It makes me want to stay! The energy transition is one of the most important issues of our time. I help ensure that my colleagues in operations can work on a reliable, affordable and sustainable energy supply from within a secure Microsoft environment.”
Support for a reliable energy network
It makes Ahmed happy when IT professionals make a helpful contribution towards an important social issue. “Energy is a basic necessity of modern life. I don't work directly on the Enexis network that meets that need, but my teammates and I provide vital support to colleagues. We manage the Microsoft 365 platform and all associated applications, such as SharePoint and Teams. Our work is very wide-ranging. Broadly speaking, we analyse the information needs of the business and develop solutions and improvements to make the Microsoft platform even more stable and reliable.”
Increasing digital resilience
Ahmed and two colleagues focus on security and privacy. “About 5,000 colleagues are working on the energy transition at Enexis. Just think how much information they store and share via SharePoint, for example. Then you can understand the importance of having a well-protected platform. We’re a close team and well-attuned to each other. This means we can quickly and efficiently deal with changes to increase digital resilience.”

Awareness
Ahmed and his colleagues are also working on a safer Microsoft environment by creating awareness. “We write blogs and white papers for our colleagues in the office and in operations. Subjects include useful information such as how to recognise and deal with phishing scams. If there’s an actual incident, we analyse the attack and report it to the organisation. We keep everyone informed.”

Good collaboration
Ahmed is enthusiastic about the quality of collaboration within the team. “The social aspect is great, but it’s Enexis’ strong collaborative atmosphere that really appealed to me. Our entire team consists of 15 colleagues. It’s a very diverse club when it comes to age, knowledge and experience. There is a lot of flexibility with our working hours. But we always know where to reach each other and are constantly in discussion. It’s a great team and everyone is really helpful and supportive. We’re respectfully open and honest with each other. It feels a bit like family to me.”
